Recognizing Outstanding Students
23rd Annual Pickett Scholarships Awarded
Congratulations to Shea ’27 and Linnea ’27, the latest recipients of the Pickett Scholarship from the Lenox School Alumni Association.
Named in memory of Mansfield E. (Peter) Pickett, a longtime teacher at MHS and the former Lenox School in nearby Lenox, the scholarships are awarded annually to students who exhibit outstanding performance in academics and extracurricular activities. This is the 23rd year the LSAA has honored MHS students.
Both Shea and Linnea are active members of the MHS community.
Shea is co-Head of the MHS Admissions Ambassadors and interns with the MHS Admissions Office during the summer. A volunteer coach with Girls on the Run, where she mentors young runners, Shea also previously served as a Miss Hall’s “Big,” older students who mentor new students at MHS.
Linnea is a Proctor and representative to the Intercultural Student Alliance, uplifting awareness and appreciation of the cultural diversity present at MHS. She also plays varsity soccer, performs with the Theater Ensemble and the Advanced Rock Band, and gives tours as an Admissions Ambassador.
Mr. Pickett, who died in 1996, was a beloved member of the MHS and Lenox School communities. The father of Tabitha Pickett Vahle ’78 and grandfather of Wendy Panchy ’85, Mr. Pickett taught Latin and English at Miss Hall’s from 1973 to 1992. He also served as MHS Director of Development from 1973 to 1975.
The Lenox School Alumni Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the spirit and camaraderie of Lenox School, which was an independent, all-boy secondary school founded in 1926. The school operated until 1971 on the grounds of what is today the home of Shakespeare & Company.
